Beads help headlights. Afterglow helps when there are none.

A reflective enamel or waterborne film returns a beam. A photoluminescent hump still outlines the raised profile after the last vehicle has passed and the street light is out. That is why calming zones and village approaches specify glow grades.

Green is the default — not the only option

Photoluminescent green, aqua and blue are the afterglow set. White and yellow remain available for daytime contrast and for split combinations. The full list sits on the speed-breaker card of the glow in the dark paint page.

Charge the film like a specification, not a hope

Afterglow depends on prior illumination. Method statements should state the expected charge (daylight / vehicle lighting) and not promise all-night performance on a permanently dark, unused lane. Pair with physical hump geometry — paint does not create the calming by itself.
