Manufacturing Process of Advance Direction Boards

YNM Safety manufactures advance direction boards through a controlled, quality-driven process to ensure high visibility, structural strength, durability, and compliance with MORTH and IRC 67 standards.

01

Design & Layout Planning

The process begins with preparing the artwork according to IRC guidelines. The board size, letter height, arrow positioning, bilingual/trilingual text, and spacing are carefully designed to ensure readability from long distances at high speeds.

02

Selection of Raw Materials

High-grade aluminium sheets (2mm–3mm thickness) are selected for panel fabrication due to their lightweight and corrosion-resistant properties. For large ADB boards, multiple aluminium panels may be joined together. Retro-reflective sheeting (engineering grade, high-intensity grade, or diamond grade) is chosen based on project requirements.

03

Cutting of Aluminium Panels

Aluminium sheets are cut into required rectangular sizes using CNC cutting or shearing machines. For large boards, multiple sheets are precisely cut to allow proper alignment during panel joining.

04

Edge Bending / Flanging

The edges of each panel are bent (usually 25mm–30mm border) using a bending machine. This flanging process increases strength and eliminates sharp edges.

05

Frame Fabrication & Panel Joining

For large Advance Direction Boards, a strong MS/GI support frame is fabricated. Aluminium panels are riveted or bolted onto the frame to create a single large signage structure capable of withstanding wind loads.

06

Surface Cleaning & Pre-Treatment

The aluminium surface is cleaned using chemical degreasers to remove dust, oil, and impurities. Proper pre-treatment ensures strong bonding of reflective sheeting.

07

Application of Retro-Reflective Sheeting

Retro-reflective sheeting is laminated onto the aluminium panels using roller lamination machines. This ensures high visibility during nighttime and adverse weather conditions.

08

Printing of Directional Information

Place names, route numbers, arrows, exit symbols, and distances are printed using UV printing, screen printing, or plotter-cut reflective vinyl. Standard white text on green/blue background is applied as per highway norms.

09

Curing & Finishing

The board is allowed to cure properly to ensure ink adhesion and long-lasting finish. Final surface inspection is conducted for smoothness and uniform appearance.

10

Fixing of Mounting Brackets

Heavy-duty GI/MS clamps and brackets are fixed at the backside for pole or gantry mounting. Structural reinforcement is ensured for highway installations.

11

Quality Inspection & Dispatch

Each Advance Direction Board is checked for reflectivity level, dimensional accuracy, colour standards, adhesion strength, structural stability, and overall finishing. After quality approval, the boards are packed securely and dispatched for installation.
