Product Overview

Waterproofing for Roads (YNM-124) is a liquid-applied waterproofing system manufactured by YNM Safety for bridge decks, culverts, box drains, retaining structures and concrete pavements. Water ingress is the single largest cause of premature deterioration in road structures — it carries chlorides to embedded reinforcement, drives corrosion, and leads to spalling, delamination and eventual structural repair at many times the cost of the original waterproofing.

The system is applied as a seamless, cold-applied membrane that cures to a flexible film with crack-bridging capability, accommodating the thermal movement and live-load deflection that rigid coatings cannot tolerate. Because it is liquid-applied, it seals around drainage outlets, kerb junctions, expansion joints and service penetrations where sheet membranes are most likely to fail.

YNM-124 is specified on highway and expressway bridge decks, ROB and RUB structures, culverts and box drains, subway and underpass slabs, retaining walls and reservoir-adjacent pavements where long-term protection of the concrete substrate is required.

Manufacturing Process of Waterproofing for Roads

Road waterproofing manufacture focuses on polymer selection, elongation testing and water-tightness verification on every batch.

01

Polymer QC

Acrylic and PU polymer dispersions tested for solids, pH and particle size.

02

Filler Selection

Graded fillers and extenders selected for film build and crack-bridging.

03

High-Shear Dispersion

Pigments and fillers dispersed under high shear to a uniform paste.

04

Polymer Let-Down

Polymer added under controlled agitation to avoid shear coagulation.

05

Rheology Adjustment

Thickeners dosed so the film holds thickness on slopes without sagging.

06

Elongation Testing

Cured film tested for elongation at break and crack-bridging performance.

07

Water-Tightness QC

Batch samples tested under head of water for specified duration.

08

Packing

Filled into lined pails and drums with tamper-evident seal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about this product from YNM Safety—manufacturing, standards, supply, and support.

YNM Safety · Waterproofing for Roads
  • Why do bridge decks and culverts need waterproofing?

Water entering a deck carries chlorides to the embedded reinforcement, which drives corrosion, spalling and delamination. Waterproofing the deck before the wearing course is laid protects the structure and defers major repair that costs many times more than the original membrane.

  • Is the membrane liquid-applied or a sheet system?

YNM Safety supplies a cold liquid-applied membrane. Because it is liquid-applied it forms a seamless film with no laps, and it seals reliably around drainage outlets, kerb junctions and service penetrations where sheet membranes most often fail.

  • Can it be overlaid with a bituminous wearing course?

Yes. The system is designed to be overlaid with a bituminous wearing course once fully cured. Share your deck build-up and paving schedule so the correct grade and cure window are confirmed.

  • Does it accommodate deck movement and cracking?

The cured film is flexible and crack-bridging, so it accommodates thermal movement and live-load deflection that rigid coatings cannot tolerate. Moving joints are detailed separately with reinforcing fabric.

  • What surface preparation is required?

The substrate must be sound, clean and free of laitance, curing compound and standing water. Blowholes and honeycombing are filled, and a primer coat is applied where the concrete is highly absorbent.

  • Who is YNM Safety?

YNM Mega Industries Pvt Ltd is an Indian manufacturer and exporter of road marking paints, metal beam crash barriers, retro reflective signages, and related road safety products, based in Telangana with supply across India and 50+ countries.
